Joseph Lucas painted carbide acetylene rear tail lamp for flat tank vintage veteran motorcycles.
This rear light is one of a number from a collection. They are all now going up for sale as I have no need for them.
This Lucas rear lamp is in nice used condition. It’s a little larger than the usual Joseph Lucas rear carbide lamps. Total length is 4 and one eight of an inch (around 10.4cm) and widest diameter of the cap is around 1.5″ (39mm).
The opening to light the wick opens. I imagine that this lamp started out as nickel-plated. I see no reason why it couldn’t be cleaned and re-plated.
These little lamps are hard to find now. They are especially difficult to find in this condition, with a little patina.
