NOW SOLD – Off to Australia
This is a decent original steel petrol tank for a mid-twenties (I guess) Flat-tank Marston Sunbeam motorcycle.
It’s a bit rough here and there but it would suit a bike that needs to look original and unrestored.
The threads are decent. It has both caps. One cap is a little unusual as it comes to a point on the inside. It has the pump. There has been some solder repair to the outlet fitting on the underside (see the images).
I have not tested the tank, so it is sold as you see it. I have shown images of the inside of both sides of the tank.
The dimensions of the underside fixing points are:
- Width across the tank (centre to centre) 4 1/2″ at front and back.
- From front to back (centre to centre) 16 1/4″
Other approximate dimensions are on the second image. Please make sure this tank fits your frame as it appears that they differ wildly, especially in length.
Viewing: If you can come to view it, that would be best. It is at a post code PE28, just North of St Ives in Cambridgeshire.
