Norton motorcycle Upright gearbox G5M47 Pre-war post war ES2, 16H, Big 4, Models 18 & 19.
I am offering this upright Norton gearbox with a very nice spare case because the other one is missing one of the mounting lugs. It is repairable, but you might prefer to have an un-repaired gearbox casing with the rest of the gearbox.
I’ve had a look, and (other than the obvious lug broken off,) the gearbox seems OK. No welds or cracks.
It turns fine. It is being sold as untested in a motorbike, but it all appears to be there, apart from the small Norton front cover and the rest of the linkages.
I believe this upright gearbox ought to be OK for the ES2, 16H, Big 4, Model 18 and Model 19. You will need to be sure that this is the part that you need before you buy. If in doubt, please ask for more pictures or dimensions before you go ahead and buy. I think the dating on these boxes are the last 3 digits. M is the month and 47 is for 1947. I imagine it will fit bikes from decades other than the 1940’s.
