Original steel prewar Triumph 3S (and similar light – middle weight models) fuel, gas, petrol, tank with original paint & chrome finish. So, it might suit the 3SE, 3SC, 3H, Tiger 80, Tiger 70 or 2H. I have a 1938 parts book that lists all of those models. The fuel tank specifications varied quite a bit. So, please double-check. I am happy to provide dimensions.
I bought it to go on a late 1940’s Triumph 3T Deluxe that I have as I thought I would get someone clever to paint the rest of the bike to match the patina on this tank. However, I’ve decided to retain the original black tank. So, this one is available.This is one of the tanks with the centre panel of switches and gauges. It is not being sold with the panel.
PLEASE… check the underside to make sure that this will fit your bike before you decide to buy.
The tank will need to be cleaned out and possibly sealed. That’s a personal thing. I don’t tend to use sealer. I just leave my bikes full of fuel ( I may revise that method, given the investment required today to fill your tank up!)
The original chrome finish is just about gone now. You can make out the red and some of the gold lines. There are some very small dings here and there with one pointed out in the images.
Bottom line. It’s basically solid. It’s fit for a refurb or a clean out and use at it is.
