Pair Inner & Outer Ariel primary covers
- Ariel Red Hunter LH KH RH Inner + Outer primary chain case covers.
- Outer case: E9/731 (Part number 5710-39)
- Inner case: E9/600 (Part number 5711-36)
I understand that these covers might suit a variety of vintage Ariel motorcycles from the 1940’s. The basic rule seems to be that the outer primary cover (e9/731) is principally for the KH model with the larger dome to accommodate the shock absorber. However, it seems that is the only real difference. So, it should suit earlier singles.
I have even heard of people using the ali cover on WNG War Dept models, in place of the steel ones.
Please take note though. The inner cover has a cast number of e9/600 (Pt number 5711-36). I believe the KH 500 has part number 5711-48 in the 1948/9 pats book. I have no idea what the difference is. I’m not an Ariel specialist. In fact, these covers belong to a friend who has now completed his Ariel project. He has asked me to help him clear a load of unused spares from various builds.
These Ariel primary covers are in usable condition.
These are not a set of highly polished primary cases, but they aren’t £200 either.
If you just want a pair Inner & Outer Ariel primary covers to get it on the road, then this is a good opportunity to get some that will only need a little work.
Condition of the pair Inner & Outer Ariel primary covers
Used and will need a clean.
Outer cover is generally good. There are no welds, obvious splits or cracks. The cover has marks from use but all the holes are fine and the facings are good. It comes with the screw-in cap as shown.
Inner cover is OK to use but dirty. There is the usual damage to the lower fixing holes (shown)Two of the smaller inner holes also have damage
