Pre-Unit Triumph T100 5T Speed Twin Trophy Close Fin ali cylinder head 500cc Twin E2679. #10
This cylinder head is for the sought-after big bearing close fin ali Triumph Twin.
The fins on the top and sides are good with the obvious exception of the unfinished repair near the exhaust port.
The head is clean and appears to have had replacement valve seats. It hasn’t been stored well, so the seats will need to be cleaned up.
I believe this is the earlier version, with the inlet / exhaust valves the same size and the cut-out of 2mm to fit the bore sleeve spigot height. I think the later ones had 4mm.
The combustion chambers are nice. I’ve shown a picture of each chamber. There are no obvious gouges. However, it might just be something to do with the casting but there is an area in both combustion chambers where it is not perfectly smooth. Please see the pics. It’s more obvious in the outside surface within the left side chamber. There is a tiny “T” mark at the top of the same chamber.
The spark plug threads look fine. The are clean and have not been repaired.
I can’t see any cracks in the usual places. I have shown close-up images of the combustion chambers. I even put my big specs on and still can’t see any welds, or repairs, of past cracks near the inner studs.
Overall, this is a nice Pre-Unit Triumph T100 Close Fin ali cylinder head for the 500cc Twin.
