Pre War Ariel Twin Port engine for the rigid frame – The engine number prefix of AC suggests that this is a 250cc LG or LH from 1937. The outer timing cover implies that this is a 350cc Red Hunter, but I’d rather go by the engine number. The obvious thing to do is to take the barrel off and measure the bore but I haven’t got around to that yet. The top front engine mountings will need some work. I have shown the damage in the pictures. There appears to be a couple of weld repairs in between the front plates.
The engine needs a complete rebuild but it does turn over.
The engine is being sold as a unit together with the gearbox, clutch and chaincase assembly including chaincases, carburettor, kickstart. Consider that all of this will need a rebuild.
However, if you happen to have an unfinished prewar Red Hunter without these parts, this is a great chance to get the project parts bought all in one go.
International shipping available. Please ask for a cost. Let me know your location and zip / post code.
In case I get any requests to sell the engine on its own, the price is £1200. This excludes the chain cases, clutch, carburettor, carb mount, magneto, gearbox and engine plates. I’m happy to split the unit, but only if the engine sells first. Thanks.
