I bought this for a Metisse project that’s not going to happen now. So, this very special engine is available for you to put in your Metisse, Tribsa or even into a Tiger Hundred.
The fins are in good condition. It has the very rare and very desirable close fin ali barrels with the ali head. The barrels alone sell for a small fortune. This engine turns over nicely. It all appears to be there and it comes with the Amal carb, carb mount and Lucas K2F magneto.
I have not run this engine, so consider that it will need a good check over or even rebuild.
It comes with an interesting past. It allegedly belonged to a well-known racer who scrambled a great deal. The previous owner to me, said that it he bought it from the race when it was installed in a Metisse scrambler. He removed it because it was too “peppy” and put something in the frame that was a little easier to handle.
Here’s where it gets interesting…. Look closely at the pictures. There is no ordinary engine number on the side of the block. It hasn’t been removed as you can clearly see the casting rough surface. However, just around the corner from the usual spot, there are two initials and (probably) a date showing 6/ 63.
My best guess is that this engine was built by the chaps with those initials and this was made as a race engine from new.
This is a no-haggle price. I won’t ever see one again.
