Pre-War (1938-40) Triumph motorcycles Ali outer primary chain case cover.

Also Post-War Pre Unit Primary Case for rigid frame models 1949-1954.

This is a hard to find Triumph outer primary case.

Because it has had major surgery, there is no cast number to determine if this is a T478A (for the 350cc rigid Triumphs such as 3t Deluxe and Tiger 85) or if it is the 500cc outer cover that would have had T480A cast inside. If it’s a 500cc one, then it would suit the Triumph Tr5 Trophy, T100, Speed Twin.

If you know the difference, please let me know. I only have a T478 cover that is going onto my 3T Deluxe and this looks identical apart from the missing drain hole.

A glance at the images will reveal that this cover has had extensive repairs. It’s decent on the outside but ugly as you like on the inside! I’m sure a few hours with a Dremel would tidy it up. The outside will need to be polished. The facings aren’t bad but they will need more work to flatten them.

Bottom line, this is way less than half price for a sought after part.
