1949 Panther motorcycle engine for sale.
Panther Model 75 350cc unit construction engine.
The engine number is 9K 116 A
It’s a pre-1950 engine and not that easy to find.
The engine is in good overall condition. The crank turns. I have not tested the engine, nor have I taken it apart, so assume that you will need to break it down to check it over. Some small parts may be missing (That’s not code for “things are missing”. I’m just covering myself and managing expectations). When I turn the crank by hand, it is smooth and makes the right noises with the valves being moved by the cams.
I have taken the rocker cover off to check that the push rods, valves and rockers are there. (See images). When I turn the crank, the valves move as they should. I also removed the spark plug and can see the piston rising and falling.
The crank cases are generally good. On close inspection, there is a weld repair to the crank cases (shown in the images) just under where the distributor would fit. Whoever did the repair made a good job and put a screw in as a stop.
The engine comes with the drive sprocket as shown.
