Brown & Barlow Dual handlebar levers that go with the Sports Model carburettor as shown here
I have had these lever in my box of old handlebar fixings for years. I couldn’t work out if they were Amal / Amac / Bowden or another make until some helpful people on Facebook told me that they are definitely Brown & Barlow.
They appear to be from around 1922 to mid twenties. I know that these Brown & Barlow dual handlebar levers would have been supplied with a variety of carburettors at the time. They were all under the heading of the 2-lever Sports Model of carburettor. However, B&B offered variations of the Sports Model including an option of either top or bottom feed for the float bowl and the choice of std spigot mount or a flange mount. The Flange mount had an “F”in front of the model number. I have shown an image of the various versions of the Brown & Barlow Sports Model carb in the images.
Some makes that used these levers with the B&B Sports model carb, were Norton with the mid 1920’s oHV models and AJS on the mid-twenties E1 (799cc) V-Twin.
Of course, as it has the original handlebar clamp for 1” bars, I guess you could use these Brown & Barlow Dual handlebar levers on any bike. Perhaps AJS and a Binks carb?
Price? Well you can buy some new ones for much less. They are not the same though. They are later versions and don’t have the same length of lever, let alone shape.
If you happen to have a set of dual levers for a 1915 Douglas 2-3/4, I will gladly swap these.

Good, overall. They move freely and with the right amount of friction. Look closely at the images. The leading edge (where the cable enters the lever) is slightly damaged on the top (choke / air) lever. The clamp is complete and the bolt appears to be original and works fine.
Bottom line, these dual levers are now around 100 years old. They have been used but will still do the job despite the small amount of damage mentioned. There is just the right amount of wear on the nickel plate to show the brass underneath and would suit a patina machine nicely.
