Early Vintage Veteran motorcycle AMAC brass carburettor

Made by The Aston Motor Accessories Co Ltd (AMAC) with this stamped on the top of the float bowl. The Aston Motor Accessories Co stamp is important as it indicates that the carb was produced before 1927, when three companies (AMAC, Binks, Brown & Barlow) joined to form AMAL.

I believe this is an AMAC carburettor for larger veteran motorcycles from around 1914. The carb appears to be from 1914.

  • 7/8″ inlet diameter
  • 1.25″ spigot mount diameter
  • #74232 stamped on the base of the float bowl.

This beautifully preserved early motorcycle brass carb is in excellent condition. The original “mushroom” air intake /flame guard is in good condition and the threads work well. The float bowl retains the float and needle, together with a working “tickler”. The mount has the clamp and the internals are as shown in the dismantled items image.

It’s a lovely thing. While I am very happy to keep it as shelf jewellery, it out to be on a lovely vintage or veteran motorcycle.
