Original, 1925 and earlier, Flat tank Norton standard brake shoe holder Model 18, Big Four & 16H.
This is the standard brake shoe holder for all the dummy belt brake Nortons. It was used right until about 1925 on all models 18, 16h, big four. However I understand that it was not used on the single speeders. They used a different type of brake shoe and with a different radius.
I have had it kicking about for quite a few years and it has always mystified me until some knowledgable people helped me out and confirmed the approximate years that I was used on Norton motorcycles.
It is approximately 8-1/2″ long.

Well this is a used, original, part. It is not a recent casting. So, if authenticity is your thing, then having an original Norton standard brake shoe holder Model 18, Big Four & 16H is ideal.
It has marks from use. It comes with the modern bolt as shown. The fixing holes look fine. Although the smaller hole at the end is very slightly mis-shaped. I doubt you would notice it when in use.
