Joseph Lucas #342 King of the Road Nickel plated carbide acetylene front lamp for flat tank vintage veteran motorcycles
This front light is one of a number from my collection. They are all now going up for sale as I have no need for them.
This Lucas front lamp is in nice used condition. There are parts of paint missing and the nickel plate is almost worn away, giving a genuine patina. It would suit a machine with a little patina.
It’s a lovely size. The lens diameter is 4″ (about 110mm) and the lens aperture rim is just over 5″ (130mm).
The hinge and clip fastening work well. The reflector is very nice. There’s a chance that this reflector has been replaced as it’s almost too good. The glass lens is good and free of cracks.
This Lucas King of the Road Acetylene carbide lamp has the standard fixings, with one on each side of the main body.
These little lamps are hard to find now. They are especially difficult to find in this condition, with a little patina.
If you are looking for matching parts, please see my selection of acetylene / carbide lamps. I have burners, front lamps and more rear ones.
