LUCAS K2FR Twin Spark Wader RACING motorcycle Magneto 42324A for Triumph, BSA, Norton and more.

International shipping available.

I bought this refurbished 1955 Racing Magneto to pair up with the pre-unit motor that you see in the images (I’m not selling the engine. It’s for a planned project). I’ve decided that this magneto is too good for what I have in mind. So, it’s available. The price might bring tears to your eyes, but these are not usually available and it’s a chance to get the right mag for your performance bike.

It was bought as you see it, so I don’t have the history.

The direction is as you see in the images. So many people describe the direction from either end, so please just look at the pictures. It’s much easier.

If you can manage it, the best thing to do is come and check it yourself before you go ahead and press the buy button.

If you’re unfamiliar with the K2FC and K2FR Lucas Mags, then here’s a little info I gathered on the models when I was considering it for my bike. The Competition is hard to come by, but the Racing version is even harder.

Competition and Racing magnetos have a stronger output than the K2F mags. The Racing mags have a screw on the cover with a nipple to accept a vent-hose and an insulated terminal for the kill wire / switch. They don’t have the vented holes in the bottom of the pickups that the Competition mags have. Another subtle difference is the fact that the Racing mags have 2 screws to fasten each pickup. Apparently, they are known as “Waders” because they can continue to work even if they are immersed in water if the gaskets are good and if the vent hose is mounted high enough.

The factory race teams used these magnetos. Bikes like the G45 Matchless and the AJS Porcupine were known to have used versions of this mag.

So, the offer is there. Please come and check the mag before you buy.

Shipping: I will ship worldwide with a few exceptions (as things go missing even if they are tacked!). If you don’t see a price to ship, please ask. It will be very carefully packed and I will only send it suing a tracked service and a reputable courier.

Part exchange: I am looking for a Triumph 500 Twin engine from between 1968 and 1972. If you happen to have one spare please let me know as I need one to finish a build. ref 21/11/695
