Original Rear Carrier for a Norton 16H Model 18 or Big 4 vintage motorcycle.
It’s cheap because it needs one of the forward legs re-attaching. The frame and leg are both solid enough to take a repair.
From my own research, I believe this kit of a rear rack is most likely for the Norton Model 18 or 16H motorcycles. As I understand it, the rack looks almost identical to the Big 4 carrier from the side. However, when viewed from above the front fixing legs splay outwards on the Big 4. The 16H rack legs were straight forward as is the case with this carrier.
I’m sure a Norton expert will let me know if this kit is pre-1925, or post-1925. I understand there is a difference, but not sure what it is.
Anyway, what you see is what you get. It’s an original rear carrier for Norton 16H Model and maybe others.

The frame is solid under the pitting.
As you can see, one of the forward mounts will need to be re-attached to the main frame of the rack. It’s a clean break and the rack / leg are solid enough to accept a repair.
Bottom line, you are getting a usable rear carrier for a Norton. Everything will look much better with a little restoration.
