This is a lovely motorcycle rear rack tool box. The leather parts are better than the ones that I’m used to seeing. The leather on this one will polish up very nicely.
It is stamped with a crown above “AM”. (Maybe Army Military? I’m no WD expert). I’d suggest that the tool box might be earlier than 1941 but was stamped later. As far as I am aware, the military issued motorcycles with tin tool boxes in 1939-1945. If you know for sure, please let me know. Every day is a school day for me. It also has a couple of initials lightly inscribed on the leather front. Perhaps a previous owner?
The steel casing is in decent condition. The clasp is still well attached and it all works as it should. Even the carrying handle is OK.
