1928 to 1939 Norton CJ, CJ1 Cylinder head.
I am not an expert in early Norton motorcycles. So, if I have this wrong, I am happy to receive guidance. Please don’t send me guesses. I can manage that all on my own.
If you are looking for one of these, you will know instantly, whether it’s correct for your needs.
As I understand it, The 348cc Norton CJ was brought into production as a lighter racer than the CS1 in 1928. Production of the CJ1 ran until 1939. I am aware that Norton varied the cylinder head designs on the ES2 over the years as I have owned one that was much debated. Anyway, Bore and stroke on the CJ / CJI was 71 x 88. This head seems to match that.
Threads on both the inlet and exhaust areas are fine. The spark plug thread looks OK although it will need a clean. As you can see, there are a few chipped fins but it’s no disaster.
Please study the images carefully for condition.
Viewing: Please come and check it over before you buy. It is at PE28, near St Ives in Cambridgeshire.
Shipping: I usually ship to most destinations. If you don’t see a price, please ask. Thanks. International shipping available.
Collection: If you don’t want it shipped, I have plenty of space. If you can’t collect for a while, it’s not a problem. However, I will need to be paid very soon after the sale. Thanks.
Payment: Good old fashioned money on collection is preferred. I can accept payment through PayPal or by bank transfer as well.
Import Taxes: (I need to mention this as I had someone buy something from me and they were based in Europe. They thought I should list the item including all taxes and shipping. Considering import duties vary enormously, this is impractical even if it was possible). Please note that IMPORT DUTIES are not something I can control. If you are buying from outside the UK, there is a chance that you will have to pay import taxes. Import taxes vary from country to country. If there are charges to pay, it is the buyer’s responsibility to research the cost and pay the duties. The price that you see on my advert is for the item and not the item plus whatever taxes might be due.
