Easter Sunday was warm and sunny and both daughters asked for a lesson on riding motorcycles. So we all took a run over to the barn and wheeled out the trusty little Cub. Fortunately, I have replaced the standard carb with a Mikuni VM22 and it fired right up with a little choke applied.
We began with just a run of a few feet on short grass outside the barn (was I thinking about bike or daughter damage?) and we then moved into a friend’s paddock. There was the occasional stall but no drama, so we moved to a small paddock.
This particular cub is set up as a trail bike, with heavy duty forks and mildly knobbly tyres, so it was capable of handling some long grass and a few holes. Once more, there were no dramas with full field circuits in first gear. Mission accomplished. Smiles all round and an exercised Cub.
We are moving on to either a full trials Cub or a little Honda TL125 next week. That way, I know they won’t go too fast but can practice changing gear.
