1928 AJS 350/ 500cc Flat Tank 2-stud K4 gearbox . Would probably suit the 1927 H models & Big Port around the same years.
- The gearbox is a 3-speed, countershaft with ball bearings. It was standard on all models with a right side gate change, fixed to the petrol tank.
- The gears are 5.5, 9.3 and 14 to 1.
- The intermediate gear is a pinion type.
I’ve left the years of patina on the cases but have checked them over for signs of damage. The case and cover appear to be fine. I have not opened the gearbox up but it does turn smoothly.
This one comes with a kick start too.
These aren’t terribly easy to find. Those that know seem to hoard them “just in case” the one fitted to their girder flat tanker gives out.
Please come and check it over before you buy. It turns and even has the captive nuts for the two mounting studs.
