1932-1935 Velocette MOV 250cc vintage motorcycle engine cases.
The engine number is M1352. I don’t profess to be an expert on early Velocette motorcycles. However, I am led to believe that the later MAC 350cc engine cases were pretty much identical. I think the only real difference was the engine number stamp that said “MAC”instead of “M” for the MOV. I am sure someone will put me right if I have that incorrect.
As it’s a set of Velocette MOV 250cc engine cases, the sequential engine numbers between 1932 and 1935 ran from “1 to 1583”. Without access to the factory records, I imagine this set of cases were stamped in 1934. Please contact the Velocette Owner’s Club for authentication.

Clear engine number
The engine cases have matching stamps. The numbers are shown. I have to say that the alloys on each case look a different colour, but that does happen sometimes. Anyway, the cases have matching numbers and the numbers don’t look like they have been tampered with.
The main sequential number is clear and unmolested.
The cases have the cylinder barrel studs with good threads.
I don’t see any obvious cracks. However, there is a small weld repair on the left / rear shoulder as shown in the pics. It’s a good weld.
The lower section is in decent condition. I mention this as people tend to drag engines around and they get scraped. These ones are OK.
Other parts for these Velocette MOV 250cc vintage motorcycle engine cases
At the moment, I have a few parts that might be useful as spares, or to help build these cases up. The parts include:
- A nice crank /flywheel with a connecting rod
- A BTH single cylinder magneto
- A nice timing cover. It would have been on the Venom or Viper. I think an MOV this old would have had a different shape.
- Some pushrods and a pushrod tube
- Some Venom timing gears
- Oil pump
- Set of 1932-35 engine cases for a MOV
