Early Brass Liqall Petrol can filler spout Early 1900’s.

The Patent number (9160) probably pre-dates 1916. That doesn’t necessarily mean that this collectible early brass Liqall petrol can filler spout is from before 1916. It is likely that it would have been supplied as an accessory up until some time in the early 1930’s.

Considering it is an accessory, I have never seen one until now. It’s nice old thing that would work as well today, as it did in the early 1920’s.

It is made of cast brass, it has a screw thread to attach to the can.  The front part of the spout can be unscrewed and has a gauze inside to prevent impurities reaching the petrol tank.  It is fitted with an air vent to allow smooth pouring. It would have been used with a 1 or 2 gallon fuel can. There are two thread attachment sizes.

I have made no attempt to polish the life out of this lovely old thing. If you want to do that, it’s an option. I have chosen to leave it with around 100 year’s of patina.

Dimensions of the early Brass Liqall Petrol can filler spout

  • Approx: length 7″ (178mm).
  • Internal diameter of the threaded part that attaches to the petrol can: 1-3/8″
  • Additional (smaller) diameter threaded area to attach to smaller cans: 1-1/8″

This early brass Liqall petrol can filler spout is a great accessory and would suit anyone’s collection.
