Post 1930 Sturmey Archer FW 3-speed improved lightweight vintage motorcycle gearbox.
Everything about this little gearbox is great until you get to the main outer casing. It is broken. I would get it fixed, but for the face that a chunk is missing. It was like that when I bought it.
The case and the front outer cover have matching numbers. The case is stamped FW16515. Looking at my records, I think this gearbox must come just after 1930 because it was an improved version of the BS 3-speed model and that ended in 1930.
So, if you are a master at ali welding repairs, or just happen to have an old outer casing in good condition, this is a great chance to get the improved 3-speed Sturmey Archer FW box complete with a clutch.
I can’t comment on the condition of the clutch plates. The rest is in good condition though.
The clutch on it’s own is a valuable item.
