Prewar & just Post war Norton upright gearbox International, 16H, Model 18, Big 4?
I’m sure that a Norton expert will help me out here. I’m pretty certain that these “lighthouse” upright Norton gearboxes were supplied with the International, 16H, Big 4 and the Model 18. You decide though.
I think the upright gearbox was supplied from the early 1930’s (possibly just after the Dolls Head) right up until 1949 when Norton replaced it with the Laydown type for the new rigid frames.
This gearbox has not suffered with the usual broken mounts. Please see the images. The mounts are good for the main case. The cast number is the usual N8001. The gear stamps read 1-1.2 1-1.77-2.97.
The serial number is 9664, which will possibly help to date it.
It turns very nicely and it comes as you see it, with the linkages and kick start lever.
These are difficult to find in this condition.

The price that you see on my advert is for the item and not the item plus whatever taxes might be due.
