1922 Sloper P&M Phelon & Moore 500cc engine 3.5 HP for a rare Panther vintage motorcycle.
The engine turns by hand. It has a piston and will need a good clean and checking over. I hear the engine sucking and squeezing and blowing as I turn the drive pulley. It appears to be almost complete and has the mag platform and rear frame mounts.
The fins are remarkably good. As you can see in the images, there is one very small chip near the top at front left.
I believe that the number on this Phelon & Moore sloper engine indicates that this is a 1922 engine. It’s probably one of the last ones produced as P&M replaced the 500cc with a 55occ engine in 1922. The original 500cc engine ran from 1914 to 1922.
So, if you are lucky enough to be the proud owner of a Phelon & Moore veteran, or vintage, flat tank motorcycle, then this is a great opportunity to either finish the project, or have a super-rare spare engine.
