SOLD – 1938 500cc Rudge Ulster single cylinder OHV vintage motorcycle short engine

NOW SOLD

1938 500cc Rudge Ulster single cylinder OHV vintage motorcycle short engine with:

  • Clear engine number
  • Matching cases halves
  • Crank (with P stamp in each half)
  • Connecting rod
  • Decent piston with rings, pin and clips
  • Small parts as shown

One for the Sporty Rudge enthusiast. This engine was made near the end of the Ulster production, so it had the various design enhancements.

It’s being sold as a short-engine to rebuild. Some fastenings are missing and there’s not much in the timing chest

The engine cases are generally good and free from obvious cracks or repairs. The engine number is clear and in-molested. The number is U2568, making this Ulster engine a 1938 one. Good threads and I don’t see any issues with the cases. I have not split the cases, so consider that the crank bearings and any journals will need replacing. (Even though it turns freely)

The engine has a piston fitted. I have some pushrods and a pushrod tube, which I think might be useful for this engine. They will be listed separately. I also have a Special head and a barrel that seems to fit this piston but I think suits the Special head. Again, they will be listed separately.

If you’re in the UK, I’d suggest coming to have a look at it.
